Amazing! Yeah, that’s the best word to describe how I felt as a new mommy. This is an amazing experience for us; me and my baby. In fact, we make a great team. I still remember her first latch. Subhanallah, Allahuakbar!! With the power of God, that little newborn just knew how to do ‘her work’. Her very first latches were good and made my earliest breastfeeding worked well!
As a new mom, breastfeeding is an exciting experience. It promotes bonding between me and my baby. I really enjoy breastfeeding since my baby is a great team partner. She needs to be fed frequently so that helps me to stay away from breast engorgement. The only pain I felt was during day 3 when the nipples became sore. Luckily I’ve read about it during my pregnancy period so I already expected that to happen.
It’s good for new moms to prepare themselves with the 101 of breastfeeding. Only with knowledge we can do things confidently. As Allah has said in Al-Quran, surah Al Isra’ verses 36,
Dan janganlah kamu mengikuti apa yang kamu tidak mempunyai pengetahuan tentangnya. Sesungguhnya pendengaran, penglihatan dan hati, semuanya itu akan diminta pertanggungan jawabnya.
It clearly means that in whatever we do, we have to have the knowledge rather just do it blindly. We will feel more confident we do it with knowledge.
‘Nas’, or reference about Breastfeeding is said in Al-Quran, surah Al Baqarah’ verses 233,
Apart from breastfeeding, I also found myself tuned into my baby’s body clock. I wake up a few times at night, to feed her or to change her diaper. During that time, sleep deprivation was quite a challenge as I was recovering from the delivery wound. Now, I already had coped with it.
As for my baby, the milestone has just begun. She opened her eyes wide only after two-to-three days after her being delivered. During the first few days, Irizz likes to be swaddled in a blanket, as if she was adjusting to the new life outside the warm and confine womb that she used to live in. Lucky me, my baby is not that fussy. It’s like she knows how hard I delivered her!
She sleeps a lot and cries less. She just cries when she wants me to nurse her, or when she feels uneasy with the diaper. Irizz loves to be massaged. I love it when she make an ‘ah’ sound when she heard my voice or saw me.
Entering her second month, her needs and love to suck just can’t be discouraged. All I knew, she refused soother so she used her fingers to soothe herself. Then she started to express his feelings by making sounds like gurgle, coo and grunt instead of crying. She also begins squeal and laughing.
Then soon she melts my heart just by her smiles! Smile even when she's sleeping. A lot of new things she does as for me, that show that she is keeping on learning and learning! She even squints her eyes.
